2020 Recap

What the hell happened in 2020 - the year the world changed forever?

  1. Ran my first 50 mile ultra marathon and medaled

  2. Did a lot of political organizing and campaigning

  3. Made so many plans that were broken

  4. Made new friends for life and let others drift away

  5. Survived a global fucking pandemic without catching COVID *knocks on wood*

  6. Worked on COVID relief efforts

  7. Danced the pain away with my friends Shine and Laura

  8. Finished my first year teaching

  9. Started my second year teaching distance-learning and teaching a new AP course

  10. Felt isolated and overwhelmed

  11. Protested every day, got arrested, hunger strike in front of the mayors house

  12. Spent more time with Colin until he left for deployment when I fell into a depression but no one noticed

  13. Took a road trip with my mom to 5 National Parks

  14. Was and am so inspired by my mom who works in a hospital and risks her life every day to save other’s

  15. Hiked a section of the PCT

  16. Summited Mt.Whitney and met my new romantic partner at the top

  17. Hiked the Backbone Trail with said person a week later which was sacred for me bc they’re the mountains that raised me

  18. Did a lot of journaling and reflecting

  19. Posted TOO MANY memes on Instagram

  20. Listened to TOO MUCH Fleetwood Mac (nothing new)

  21. Got kicked out of our house in the middle of a pandemic

  22. Found a better apartment and decorated in a way that felt like me

  23. Went back to therapy

  24. Came out as pansexual and non-binary

  25. Became more myself

  26. Learned to say no and except disappointing people

  27. Got a tattoo

  28. Got five more piercings

  29. Did a LOT of running

  30. Got a DOG (something I have wanted since I was 5)

  31. Bought a RAV4 Hybrid and paid outright

This year objectively sucked but it was also one of the best in terms of growth I want to thank the following people for filling my life with love and my heart with joy. I hope I do the same for you.
